Sustainability
As a leader in promoting sustainable construction practices in the Chicago land area for over ten years, ECI’s ongoing commitment to every day implementation on all of our projects is a priority! ECI strives to achieve a minimum of 90% recycling from waste on our jobsites. In addition, our Superintendents manage clean environments and protected staging and storage areas while using renewable materials for all temporary construction needs on site. Our staff is always aggressively seeking out other more energy efficient ways of doing ALL that we do. It is with enthusiasm that ECI encourages our clients to reach for LEED certifications or at a minimum recognize the need to protect our environment and support sustainable design and construction practices.
Sustainability:
Sustainability is basically a concept about the interconnectedness of the environment, the economy, and social equity. It is a journey – a path forward – through which we demonstrate responsibility for our future legacy. It is a vision — an aspiration — for a better life for our children and our children’s children.
Sustainable Design:
Sustainable design seeks to reduce negative impacts on the environment, and the health and comfort of building occupants, thereby improving building performance. The basic objectives of sustainability are to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste, and create healthy, productive environments.
LEED:
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is an internationally recognized green building certification system that promotes sustainable building and development practices through a suite of rating systems that recognize projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance.
What our clients say:“Congratulations! The HOK Chicago office has received a LEED CI Platinum certification! Myself and the HOK project team would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those from ECI and ESD that helped make this amazing achievement possible. The sustainable expertise that you all displayed throughout the entire design and construction process should be recognized and applauded. We could not have done this without you and we appreciate the effort that you put forward. The HOK, ESD and ECI “tri-fecta” is quite a sustainable force to be reckoned with and we look forward to providing innovative and efficient design solutions with this same team in the future”.
