333 South Wabash: Multi-Phased Renovation

In 2018, CNA vacated their longtime headquarters at 333 South Wabash for a new downtown location. To make way for new tenants, significant demolition and abatement was required, as well as upgraded infrastructure and renovation of 27 floors to return those floors to tenant-ready condition. As part of this multi-phased renovation, the lobby and amenity spaces were also upgraded employing strategic logistics to complete work during ongoing building operations.


Demolition & Abatement

Extensive abatement of asbestos materials and fireproofing was performed across all floors, with the respray of fireproofing in those areas. Demolition of multiple building components throughout included demising walls, carpet, lighting, ductwork, and significant MEP systems. The project also included the removal of exterior windows; and securing all MEP systems for safe removal and cap for future use.


Infrastructure & Turnover

Upgraded infrastructure components include state-of-the-art security systems; and updated telecommunications risers and closets to prepare the building for future tenants. The turnover scope involved finishing the perimeter and core drywall on all floors; install of updated MEP components throughout; furnish and install of new doors, frames, and hardware; and the buildout of restrooms on floors 7 and 24. Work also included base building infrastructure for a new food court (by others) on floors 1 and 2.


Lobby & Amenities

Phased lobby renovation features new secure entry vestibules and an interconnecting stair. The existing stone floor was demolished and replaced new stone tile, and terrazzo floor was installed in the elevator lobbies. The Amenity spaces include a conference center; auditorium with stadium seating; tenant lounge; and fitness center upgrades. A new daycare facility on floors 1 and 2 features multiple classrooms with new windows; child restrooms; dedicated elevator for floors 1 and 2; an entry and egress stairwell for daycare families; and an exterior steel terrace with an outdoor play area.
