This dynamic projected featured a three-phase demolition of two existing buildings, and the construction of a 70,000-sf office and material testing laboratory building. This two-story addition, which links to the firm’s main building, creates an expanded space for both administrative and technical operations.
The new state-of-the-art facility features custom chemistry, metallurgy, petrography, and concrete / mortar laboratories, and an 8,000-sf structural testing laboratory with a 20-ton Gantry crane for large-scale testing of samples. Additional spaces include a combined shipping / receiving / mail area; open workstations; private offices; café; library; and conference rooms. The addition offers exposed ceiling finishes, clerestory office fronts, millwork, and AV components throughout. The expanded lobby is highlighted by an internal, spiral staircase with glass block enclosure.
Site work includes installation of a storm-tech water retention system under the new parking lot and added landscaping.
